Age: 36 Hometown: Kissimmee, FL Date of Injury: 8/1/2007 Injury Level: T12/L1 SCI-Step Start Date: 10/20/2008 On August 1st of 2007, I was in a motorcycle accident. As a result of the accident I was paralyzed at the T12/L1 level due to a hit and run. I lost my spleen, broke a couple of ribs, my jaw and suffered a head injury. I also had road rash on my right leg and right arm. I woke up 6 weeks later in the hospital and was told what happened. I don't remember anything. When I left the hospital on October 24th, I was not able to do the little things that people take for granted like transferring into a car. I did ask myself why this happened to me but I was determined not to let this disability get the best of me. When I saw this program at SCI-Step and everything it offered, I knew I had to give it a try. My goal is the ultimate goal and nothing less than to be 100% independent. Favorite Quote: My favorite quote comes from the Bible. Paul wrote this many centuries ago in Philippians 4:13. "For all things I have the strength by virtue of him who imparts power to me." |
