"My goal is not to function better in my wheelchair, it is to get up and walk again. Sci-Step's non- traditional approach to rehab allows me to focus on that goal."

-Anne

By age 32 Anne had become a shooting star in the world of motorcycle racing.  After successfully making her way through the semi-pro ranks Anne accomplished a rare feat by becoming a licensed professional racer.  Anne’s sport was the male dominated world of professional motorcycle drag racing.  She was one of a small group of active professional women in the sport and was recognized as one of the fastest women in the world on a motorcycle.  On August 10, 2002 Anne had a freak accident after a successful run during a national event at the Bristol Motor Speedway.  In the resulting hours she learned that she had suffered a spinal cord injury to her sixth thoracic vertebrae. She was diagnosed as an ASIA A T-6.

She went to Craig Hospital for rehabilitation and then on to San Marcos, Texas for further therapy.  Upon returning home to Cincinnati, Anne entered the Sci-Step program January 20th.  Within the first 6 weeks at Sci-Step, she was able to balance while sitting unsupported on the ROM table, transfer in and out of the chair on her own, perform voluntary hip adduction and knee extension, pull herself up into a walker while supported as well as, sit up from a lying position.

In addition to the upper body strength that she has developed, she now requires less muscle stimulation while riding the ERGYS2 and can voluntary contract her hamstrings and quadriceps while using the NeuroEDUCATOR.

Anne is making huge progress and continues to stay focused on her goals each day.
