"My husband and I were riding in our truck on the way to a family member's house for Christmas in 2000 when we were suddenly broadsided by a car. I received multiple internal injuries and it was uncertain at first if I would live or not. I was in a coma for a few days and then had surgery to fuse the vertebrae at the site of my injury and to repair my pelvis that had split into three pieces.

I spent four months in three different hospitals, the last one specializing in rehabilitation. I was distressed by the mentality of some of the therapists that I came into contact with as a result of my injuries. Their textbook approach seemed to be "okay, now you are injured, accept it and learn to live with it."  One told me that I'd better choose my wheelchair carefully because I'd be in it the rest of my life!

I wanted to fight and regain as much function as possible and knew that there had to be something more, so I started investigating some of the alternative approaches.  That what when I discovered Sci-Step. I was excited to learn that it was located so close to home and that they believed in possibilities!  Remember, Christopher Reeve has been injured since 1995 and has made some incredible gains recently.

The Lord has not only spared my life but put many loved ones and health professionals in my life that have made recovery possible.  I have been working steadily to make as much progress as I can and am continually getting stronger, steadier and more confident!

"When you can do something that you could not do just a few months, a few weeks or a few days ago, it is exhilarating because you feel like you got part of your life back!"
