Michele Brock, Executive Director Michele earned a degree in Exercise Science from Miami University where she focused on anatomy and physiology. As the Executive Director at SCI-Step, Michele is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the facility. She brings over 14 years of management and training experience to SCI-Step ranging from hospital-based health and wellness to clinical research in sports medicine and injury prevention. She is also a certified personal trainer and Spinning™ instructor. She is a clinical trainer in partial weight bearing treadmill training and also travels for the education department of Mobility Research and the maker of the LiteGait. Michele's dedication and passion for making an impact on the health of others led her to help create SCI-Step. When not working, she loves to spend time with her 5 year old son, family and friends. Matt Ranson, Program Director Matt also received his degree from Miami University and brings a wealth of training experience to SCI-Step. Matt is responsible for the patient recovery programs, as well as, the scheduling and staffing side of SCI-Step. He has trained in numerous settings from hospital based cardiac rehab to sports-specific programs for professional and college athletes. He is also a certified personal trainer and dedicates himself to his clients, leading them to train as hard as they can. Matt is married with a 2 year old daughter. John Brannan, MD SCI-Step patients who do not have their own physician prior to our therapy, are seen by Dr. Brannan, who oversees the continued progress of their program at SCI-Step. Dr. Brannan, a Physiatrist was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. He attended St. Xavier High School and the University of Cincinnati. He has special interests in clinical spine medicine sports medicine, rehabilitation and electrodiagonis and is affiliated with Beacon Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.

Phyllis Schulte, Physical Therapist Phyllis Schulte is a 1981 graduate of the University of Kentucky Physical Therapy program. She has had experience in various settings, including hospitals, private practice, outpatient rehabilitation and service to individuals who are mentally retarded/physically disabled. Phyllis is excited about all the equipment that has been developed in the field of spinal cord injury rehab to assist SCI-Step in helping others to reach their goals. When not working, Phyllis enjoys her husband and three children, especially attending soccer games and band concerts. She also enjoys walking, working at church, and scrapbooking. Kelly Lynch, Physical Therapist Kelly graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Allied Health Sciences with a certification as a respiratory therapist. She pursued her desire to be a physical therapist and graduated from Andrews University in 1999 with a Master's Degree in Physical Therapy. She worked at Miami Valley Hospital for 8 years in both acute care and inpatient rehab where she followed her passion for SCI and other neurological impairments. Kelly is married with a 2 year old and another on the way! She loves to spend time as a family, especially camping together. Danielle Johnson, Physical Therapist Danielle graduated in 1998 from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota with a Master of Physical Therapy degree. While in Rochester, Danielle worked on the rehabilitation unit at Methodist Hospital, part of Mayo Medical Center. Upon graduation, Danielle worked at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Wabasha, Minnesota. At St. Elizabeth’s, Danielle received the Circle of Excellence Award for the creation of a wellness and fitness program designed for diabetic patients. In 2001, Danielle moved to Seattle, Washington where she worked at the University of Washington, Exercise Training Center. There she focused on outpatient orthopedics and manual therapy. While in Seattle, Danielle also helped develop a women’s health program aimed at the treatment of urinary incontinence, pelvic dysfunction and pelvic pain. Currently, Danielle continues to work with orthopedic, women’s health and Multiple Sclerosis patient populations. In her spare time, Danielle enjoys keeping active and spending time with her husband and two children. Paul Kremer, Physical Therapist Paul is a 2006 graduate of the University of Toledo Physical Therapy Program. In addition to SCI-Step, he also works at a private practice outpatient orthopedics where he sees a variety of patients of all ages and pathologies. Paul is currently working on becoming a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist which will further enhance manual skills in treating dysfunctions. When not working, Paul enjoys running, golf and spending time with family and friends. Kevin Furay, Exercise Physiologist Kevin is also a graduate of Miami University and completed his internship experience with SCI-Step in 2006. After graduation, he joined our team full-time and is instrumental in the daily progress of each of our patients. Kevin can be reached at kevinfuray@sci-step.com
James Riha, Exercise Physiologist James also graduated from Miami University with a degree in Exercise Science. James is working full time at SCI-Step as an exercise physiologist and is getting married in May.
Molly Armstrong, Exercise Physiologist Molly recently finished her degree in Exercise Science at Miami University. She has been involved with SCI-Step since May 2006 and is dedicated to the health and happiness of our patients. In her spare time she like to hang out with her friends or spend time with her new nephew.
Kristen Lies, Exercise Physiologist Kristen also recently finished her degree in Exercise Science and a minor in business management at Miami University. She has recently studied abroad in International Health at Dijon University in France. She has been with SCI-Step since August 2006.

Patricia Worth, RN, MS, L.Ac. Pat graduated from the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland, CA in 1996 with a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine. This four year school is nationally accredited by the ACAOM. Pat is an Acupuncture Diplomat, certified by the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in 1996. Pat comes to the oriental medicine practice with over 28 years of experience as a registered nurse. She has been trained in and practiced multiple oriental bodywork since 1985, such as amma, tui na, jin shin jytsu, acupressure and Pat is a teacher of shiatsu. She has certificates totaling over 1,500 hours in alternative modalities training and 16 years of adjunctive therapy. Pat has post-graduate training in oriental medicine in multiple areas including GYN. In addition to Sci-Step, Pat is currently involved with the Parkinson's Disease Recovery Project Research.
Cynthia Herman, LMT, MSW Cynthia is a graduate of SHI Integrative Medical Massage School in Lebanon, Ohio. She is licensed by the Ohio State Medical Board as a massage therapist and is certified by the National Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork. Cynthia employs the use of many massage techniques, including Swedish, myofacial release, cranial-sacral therapy, and lymphatic drainage. Her massage practice has included work with clients experiencing cancer, chronic pain and fibromyalgia. Cynthia also holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Utah. Her career in social work was spent primarily in the healthcare field.
Anita Foster, LMT Anita is a SHI Integrative Medical Massage School graduate and a licensed massage therapist by the Ohio State Medical Board. Massage therapy is a second career for her and Anita's passion in life is encouraging the highest quality of life for all. She enjoys using massage to encourage others on to wellness. She has stated that "it feels like a privilege and a blessing to work with men and women committed to actively creating the best quality of life possible for themselves." Carol Knight, CR Carol is a certified reflexologist having graduated from the Universal College of Reflexology in Canada in 2003. She became interested reflexology in the late 60's after finding a book about it in a used bookstore. I started using it on friends and family and then found a reflexologist to treat me. After her positive experience with reflexology, she decided to become a certified reflexologist.
